The heathen stays home...
Starting on Christmas Day I came down with a pretty bad cold. At first I thought it was the flu, as I alternated between burning hot and shivering cold...so cold that the electric blanket turned up all the way could not keep me warm. Then I lost my voice. The fever subsided after a couple of days, but the gunk in my chest and in my throat is still bothering me. I'm just starting to feel normal now.
Mark was up early and about to get into the shower when he came back into the bedroom to let me know that Kirby was sick with diarrhea. Thankfully she was in her cage when the worst of it hit her, so we put her in the garage and took the cage apart for cleaning. (Hooray for plastic kennels--easy to take apart and easy to clean!) Once that was done, we bathed the dog. I dried her off as Mark resumed his Sunday morning getting-ready-for-church routine. I thought it best to stay home to watch Kirby for any more signs of sickness. She seems OK now except for the bloody spot in her mouth where she just lost another tooth. Poor puppy! So here I am, at home on Sunday morning.
My friends with kids tell me nightmare stories about times when their little ones were messy-sick...puke and poop everywhere. Dog diarrhea gives Mark the skeeves. Argh, it's bad enough with a puppy. I'm so glad we skipped the baby stage and went straight for an older child!
