Ice storm=Power outage
When I awoke this morning I found spouse and child in the hearth room, fire roaring. The power went out around 4:00am and they were getting cozy.
We chose to equip our kitchen with natural gas, so I toasted bagels in a skillet. Mark boiled water and filtered it by hand for the morning coffee.
No school--poor K. was bored and so were we...especially since we had just finished nearly two weeks of Christmas break from school and were looking forward to getting back to our weekday routine. We listened to news reports on our emergency weather radio. I took some cool pictures of ice on our trees. I was hoping for the sun to come out, but it never did.
As I write this, it's down to +9 degrees F., and it's going to get even colder overnight.
Later in the afternoon we drove to a grocery store for supplies. By the time we had lunch and returned home our power was back on. Unfortunately school is still cancelled for tomorrow. Does that make me a bad mom? : )
