Slacker yet again...

Well, here's what's up:

  • We bought the house, and moved in at the end of September. Holy moly, it's a wreck but I think it will much better after some of our plans are set into motion. We tore down wall paper and discovered that one wall didn't even have a drywall foundation: it was several layers of paint over wallpaper over cheap vinyl paneling! So due to time constraints we had to get someone out to rip out the paneling and install drywall. Plus with all the unevenness of wall texture due to past wallpaper and other crud, we had them texture everything. After the texture we still had to prime and paint everything. Oh, and we had them pull off all the baseboards and door casings as they were disgusting; we did the same with all the interior doors. We will have new doors throughout the house. We re-carpeted the bedrooms. However, we can't replace the baseboards or door casing in the dining area, kitchen, living room or hall because we will be doing ceramic tile everywhere some time after the New Year...which will be after we tear out the kitchen! I don't even want to think about it.
  • Work is going well, and things will be even better after the company moves 1Q 2006; the new digs are 4.9 miles from our house! Although I was hired as an account exec, I hope to make a transition into the project management side.
  • Since my last entry we visited Mark's family in Columbus over the Labor Day weekend and had a terrific time. The weather was so nice that we rented a convertible; Kyla had a big time.
  • Speaking of "big times", we threw another birthday party for Kyla. This one was at a local party place, complete with giant inflatable slides and moon-walk type thingies. She had a great time. I'm glad we did this as she (and all of us) have been very stressed out by our move.
  • My friend Lissa will be visiting next week; she comes down here at least once a year to visit her family. Yeah!
  • Bill broke up with Mom. I'll write another post about this, but I believe he does not have a clue about what it means to be a human being.
  • Mom got some answers about her blindness. Apparently her "posterior visual cortex" does not respond properly to stimuli. I'll post links later.
  • Monica wrote to say she got her first real job...at Spangles!
That's a quick update...

  • Your blog was one of the daily sites listed and I have enjoyed reading it. It sounds like you all are super folks and I regret I don't know you personally. All the best to you in your life and big changes. Let's pray your new state does goes blue
