Happy Birthday to me...
I see a pattern as I glance at the most recent entries in this blog; the worse my job became, the less I posted. That situation should be changing as I begin work at a new company next Monday.
The job became most unbearable in December after I was promoted to lead the Upgrades team. In that position I was able to see just how little influence the employees of the company have over company policy and processes.
The company is owned and run by a family. The family has certain ideas about running a business that cannot be changed, even with direct evidence to the contrary. My project managers are overworked and underpaid (even for low-wage Florida). The company sends out patches and hotfixes so frequently that project GO LIVE dates are a constantly moving target. Morale is awful.
So I'm outta there!
The family that adopted our daughter's birth sister came recently for a visit. We had a good time. The sister is happy where she is. Kyla had a great time. Here they are at the beach:

Kyla was sad to see her sister leave.
